Life can get hectic in Cairo during summer with all the events and endless opportunities to explore the city’s cultural delights. Amid the restless city, if you are looking for a place to slow down and delve deep into Cairo’s cultural scene, the Tahrir Cultural Center (TCC) is a cultural hub in the Tahrir Campus of the American University of Cairo. The centre offers a space for music, literature, and the arts. Here is your guide to upcoming events this month at TCC.
Luka Wel Batteekh Concert

The newly born band Luka Wel Bateekh features the musicians of ElDo3souqa with some new faces. The band’s harmonising melodies take you on a journey that combines folk, Latin jazz, neo-jazz, and Gnawa with a Middle Eastern touch, and their TCC performance is scheduled for August 16th at the TCC Main Garden. After their amazing performance at Rawabet Art Space last June, we’re so excited to see them again this summer!
Black Theama Concert

The renowned Black Theama celebrates its 19th birthday in an anticipated and memorable night on August 18th at TCC’s Ewart Hall. Founded in 2004, this Nubian band has become known for its culturally rich rhythms mixing R&B, hip-hop, jazz, blues, funk, and reggae.
Noha Fekry

The Egyptian Jazz icon, Noha Fekry, is scheduled to perform on August 22nd at TCC’s Main Garden. Fekry’s captivating voice and unparalleled songwriting technique made her a pioneer in the Egyptian jazz scene. From jazz standards to re-envisioned Arabic tunes and globally acclaimed melodies, her performances cover a broad spectrum, each uniquely crafted for her Jazz ensemble.
Ba’d El Eisha; A Theatrical Night

An immersive theatrical experience on August 28th will send you back in time and guide you along the streets of Cairo in the 1920s to explore the art scene back then. Performed by El Warsha Theater Troupe, Egypt’s first independent theatrical ensemble, the evening will walk you through the renowned Emad Eldin, reflecting on the changes after the 1919 Revolution. Make sure to be there early, as tickets are first-come, first-served.
Fashion Styling Workshop

This three-day workshop starting on September 6th will introduce you to the science of fashion styling. The workshop will equip you with the necessary knowledge to reassess your fashion style according to personality, body shape, the latest fashion trends, and the science behind it.
