If you’re an established traveller, then chances are, you have heard of Oktoberfest. Even though the original Oktoberfest is in Munich, Cairo Jazz Club 610 decided to bring us all the shenanigans right here in our beloved capital. A time-honoured and treasured German tradition, Oktoberfest has been celebrated since 1810, attracting people worldwide. Essentially, Oktoberfest is really about coming together and having a good time dressing up and enjoying live music, delicious traditional German food, and lots of beer. That’s why heading over to CJC 610 for some Bavarian fun is an absolute must this week!
H.R.M (250 LE)
This year, CJC 610 is celebrating Oktoberfest with a limited-time menu filled with traditional Bavarian dishes like bratwurst, schnitzel, currywurst, and more until Saturday, the 2nd of October. We reserved our spot on the same day via Facebook message and headed there around 5:00 PM to catch the sunset with drinks. Of course, if you like a big crowd, it’s better to wait until later to enjoy the lively atmosphere, but it was perfect weather and timing for us. As we got to our table, we decided to start with a recommended cocktail: H.R.M (250 LE) – vodka, homemade fig leaf syrup, strawberry, and lemon – from the signature cocktails menu. This cocktail had delicate sweety tones with citrusy flavours that perfectly complemented the balanced citrusy Rose Sangria (480 LE) we also ordered. Alongside our drinks, we got a side of Vegetable Crudites with Ranch Dip (70 LE) – the assortment of veggies was naturally tasty and crunchy, pairing beautifully with the fresh notes of our drinks.
Veal Schnitzel (320 LE)
While enjoying the fantastic weather and even better drinks, we decided to start ordering our mains from the special Oktoberfest menu. We got one Veal Schnitzel (320 LE) – fried veal chops served with spätzle pasta cream sauce and mixed greens, and one Bratwurst (120 LE) – veal sausage with mustard sauce, served with homemade fries or German potato salad. The Schnitzel dish was sizable and looked appetising, but the breading needed more seasoning to shine and complement the creaminess of the spätzle. On the other hand, the bratwurst was incredibly delicious; the sausage was perfectly herbed and deliciously tasty. However, since this dish turned out to be more of an appetiser than a main dish, we ordered one Grilled Chicken Pasta with Romesco Sauce (160 LE) from the regular menu. This pasta dish was spot on; the creamy red pepper sauce was flawless, and the parmesan cheese elevated the dish’s creaminess to another level.

It was a delightful experience to try an exclusive menu in a familiar, friendly atmosphere. But, If you’re in the mood to party, the Oktoberfest menu is combined with many fun happenings during the week: Karaoke Night with free tequila shots, Massar Egbari, Mostafa Amar and DJunkie, and much more are on until this Saturday. You can check out their exclusive menu and schedule on their Instagram and Facebook accounts – but don’t forget to reserve a spot ahead!
