The Definitive Guide to Living in the Capital , Cairo , Egypt

A little over 100 years ago (January 1^st, 1919 to be exact), an iconic Egyptian literary legend by the name of Ihsan Abdel Quddous was born. He grew up to be a writer, journalist, and editor in Al-Akhbar and Al-Ahram newspapers. Abdel Quddous was also known for his hundreds of novels, many of which were later adapted into movies. So, it only seemed fit, with his significant contributions in the film industry, that the Gouna Film Festival honours the memory of such an inspiring figure by dedicating an exhibition to him.

A few days ago, Reuters (Arabic) stated that the festival commemorates the author last Saturday with a rare collection of his belongings. The exhibition includes both national and international awards, medals, and certificates, as well as handwritten manuscripts, movie posters, dozens of personal portraits and photos, and the actual desk where he wrote and created his masterpieces at home.

According to Masrawy, the late writer’s son, Ahmed Abdel Qudoous, was in attendance for the opening, as were some Egyptian celebs, such as Yousra, Elham Shahin, Bushra, sisters Hala and Hana Shiha, Inas El-Degheidy, Naguib Sawiris, and even his father, Onsi Sawiris.
