After many years of being wholly dependent on planet earth with no real intentions of giving back, in the past few decades, the world has been sending back many warning signals that it’s high time we took heed; taking good care of the remaining resources and consuming less of them- in other words, turning to sustainability.
While various companies and brands are just implementing sustainability throughout the process of making the final product, Swedish-founded multinational furniture retail company, IKEA, is going the extra mile with their latest sustainability campaign; introducing every-day sustainability techniques to their consumers, as part of its master plan towards attaining a sustainable future, IKEA 2030.
Believing that big positive changes start with a sustainable life at home, IKEA has reached out to every consumer around the globe, including Egypt, where IKEA Egypt hosted a couple of events on the 21st and 23rd of April.
With Earth Day being the main focus, the first event included an engaging game, in which all family members and friends join forces by cycling to generate power, and light up the IKEA LED bulbs placed in a mockup.
The second event, which highlighted the concept of reducing food wastage, welcomed a host of Egyptian influencers and bloggers, who learned how to create a 3-course meal from leftovers. The workshop also touched on all aspects of hosting a guest at home, while maintaining sustainability measures. The influencers are set to put what they learned in the workshop at home into practice, and share their experience in reducing food wastage with their followers on social media platforms.
