Cairo 360
An action flick, a thriller, and an animated sequel, this week Cairo cinemas are filled with options for everyone. Get ready for the rebirth of the Robin Hood story starring Taron Egerton and Jamie Foxx, while Aaron Paul returns to the big screen with the thriller Welcome Home, and finally, Wreck-it Ralph returns for a sequel, Ralph Breaks the Internet.
What’s it about? If you’re too young to know about Robin Hood, his iconic mantra is to steal from the rich and give to the poor, taking social equality into his own hands. This time, the movie showcases the character as the leader of a revolt against the corrupt English crown.
The good: Taron Egerton is proving his worth as an immensely talented actor known for portraying action roles with finesse, and in this movie, he’s joined by the amazing Jamie Foxx who’s known to always steal the show. This powerhouse duo is sure to give the movie a huge boost, plus the power of the nostalgic character, of course.
The bad: Director, Otto Bathurst, has his big-screen debut with this movie, which is always a worrisome fact. Everything looks good from the trailer, but so do all trailers, and early reviews have not been merciful at all.
What’s it about? Emily Ratajkowski and Aaron Paul play a couple looking to spend a weekend vacation in the Italian countryside. Just like any horror story, it begins with romance and ends with terrible and horrifying events, testing an already complex relationship.
The good: Aaron Paul has not had many roles on the big screen, but from what we’ve seen from the Breaking Bad star, his acting chops can uplift this movie into something very good. Director George Ratliff is known for creating captivating horror stories, and this one is looking really exciting.
The bad: Despite the excitement that the trailer might bring you, early reviews suggest that this movie might be a disappointment.
What’s it about? The sequel to Wreck-it Ralph (2012), this film follows the story of Ralph and Vanellope after developing their friendship. They discover a Wi-Fi router in their arcade, opening a new door for their future adventures.
The good: The movie is filled with stars voicing various characters, such as Jack McBrayer and Ed O’Neill, with the return of John C. Reilly and Sarah Silverman, and the new addition of Gal Gadot. The trailer is very exciting, and the early reviews are showing real promise.
The bad: Animated movies are always trying to tread the line between catering to kids and adults alike. This franchise did quite well in the first movie, so we have to wait and see whether this one lives up to its predecessor, or hammers us with one cliché after the other.
