Yes the weekend has arrive, but we know that your time is precious – so let’s skip the niceties and small-talk and jump straight in.

Thursday’s events cover all colours of the musical spectrum; singer and composer, Joe, and his band, Shewayet Fann, take to the stage of Muez Street’s Al Rab3, to perform a variety of Arabic contemporary songs, while Hysterialog are at El Sawy Culturewheel for a night that will see hem perform songs from classic Arabic movies, and Radiohead tribute band, Karma Police, take over at Zamalek’s Magnolia.

Also playing a variety of covers, as well as some originals, are local duo, Donia & Beshr, who take to the stage at Darb 1718’s latest version of MazzikaXElsat7. It’s a lucky night for jazz lovers, meanwhile, because legendary musician, Yehia Khalil, takes to the stage of Cairo Opera House and the Rami Attallah Trio return to Garden City’s ROOM Art Space.

As the night grows older, Lebanese rock band, The Wanton Bishops, are part of one of the highlight events of the weekend at Cairo Jazz Club on a night that will also see DJ Kitchen Crowd take to the stage.

If you’re looking for a pure house fix, Downtown Cairo’s Zigzag welcomes Nour Fahmy and Zeina, while 24K in Korba hosts Aguizi & Fahim. Elsewhere, Armen V kicks off the weekend at The Tap Maadi with the latest edition of Dance Grooves, while Soul M & Teddy provides some hip-hop and r&b tunes at The Tap East.

On a very different note, this year’s Cairo Fashion & Tex kicked off on Wednesday at CICC and will continue till Saturday, with a whole host of different vendors showcasing accessories, textiles, garments and more.

Staying at The Tap East, Friday begins nice and early(ish) with Let’s Do Brunch, were Omar Emara performs, while family-friendly fun can be found at Westown Hub’s Kiddo’s Got Talent, where kids’ activities, a talent show, live entertainment and more await.

Later in the evening, Sudanese folk singer, Asia Madani, takes to the stage of ROOM Art Space, Pink Floyd cover band, Paranoid Eyes, perform at Maadi’s Madaar and Egyptian jazz & blues artist, Mostafa Rizk, is live at Al Rab3.

Delving deeper into the night, Ayman Nageeb delivers a dose of nu-disco at The Tap East, DJ A.K takes to the decks of Maadi’s The Tap for Back to the Future, one of Cairo’s most underrated producers and DJs, SHIHA, has the stage to himself at Cairo Jazz Club, while local favourites, Mazen Hamdy & Omar El Sabh are at Zigzag.

The live music continues on Saturday with Grammy Award-winner, Fathy Salama, and students of El Darb El Ahmar Art School take to the El Genaina Theatre stage for a special collaborative gig, The Flying Concert, while local starlet, Malak, is in the spotlight at Maadi’s Yellow Umbrella to perform a mix of originals and covers and Shadi Mo’nes and his band, Hekayat, takes to that of the Wisdom Hall at El Sawy Culturewheel, to cover a variety of Arabic classics by El Sheikh Emam and Sayed Darwish.

Local band, Baheyya, are also celebrating the musical legacy of these two, but at Cairo Jazz Club in Saturday L’Oriental.

Two of the biggest events on Saturday, however, take place at The Tap Maadi and Tap East. In celebration of Oktoberfest, both bars will be hosting three consecutive Saturday parties, with each welcoming a host of DJs and bands.

This is just a snapshot of the events taking place across the city this weekend – check out the Cairo 360 events calendar for more.
