From that one friend who won’t go anywhere unless there’s shisha, to the vegetarian who’s surviving on salads and cheese, to the foodie who wants to try something new every single outing; choosing a place to please everyone is a huge hassle, but not with Ted’s’ talk, eat, drink philosophy – and new menu.
We were very eager to try Ted’s new recipes and menu items, so we didn’t waste time and asked the waiter to bring us Chicken Quesadillas (69LE) and a Red Passion Smoothie (36LE) while exploring their new additions.
The combo of passion fruit syrup with the red berries created a refreshing smoothie that had a spot-on consistency, while pieces of cantaloupe added more depth of flavours. A nice start to what was to be a fantastic meal.
The quesadillas were filled with grilled chicken, melted cheddar cheese, jalapeno and tomato, and served with sour cream and tomato dip. Despite the scant amount of chicken, it was rich and cheesy, the tortilla was crispy, the sour cream had fresh diced onions which we loved, and we really enjoyed the spicy kick from the jalapeno and the bold coriander flavour in the filling.
Moving to the mains, there were several tempting dishes, including the Green Way Pasta, the Steak Sandwich, the Seafood Paella, and much, much more, but we made up our minds and went with the Lemon Mustard Chicken (110LE) and the Chicken Spinach Pizza. Served with perfectly cooked creamy and rich mac n cheese, the lemon mustard chicken came in form of two tender and well-seasoned grilled breasts, lying on lemony fresh sautéed spinach that had an amazing garlicky flavour, and topped with cream sauce and fresh coriander. Although we didn’t feel the presence of the mustard at all, the dish overall had terrific flavours.
Nothing less for the chicken spinach pizza. The flawless thin dough with bubbly edges was topped with a generous amount of grilled chicken, parmesan, mozzarella and spinach, while sun-dried tomatoes added an intense sweet-tart flavour, fresh basil gave it a lovely aroma and the tomato sauce was just right. The overall result was a light and flavourful dish that we can be easily call the best pizza we’ve ever had in some time.
Things got pretty intense with dessert and we called for help because choosing between a stack of Peanut Butter Pancakes, a Kinder Chocolate Dome, the Chocolate Fudge cake, and other luscious new items isn’t the easiest decision to make. However, the waiter recommended the new version of their classic pain perdu: the Nutella Pain Perdu (70LE) – a giant piece of French toast which had a crispy crust and custardy centre, nestled in a pool of vanilla cream, then topped with Nutella, a scoop of vanilla ice cream, nuts and a drizzle of caramel sauce. The dessert wasn’t overly sweet as we expected, had a great diversity of textures, and was just all-in-all perfectly executed.
We talked, we ate, we drank and then we ate some more. In addition to the casually unique ambiance and great service, Ted’s new and improved menu was near flawless at the time of our visit. The variety is wide and definitely crowd-pleasing – meaning that there will be something for the foodie, the vegetarian and your other demanding friends.
