Among the ever-increasing number of accessory shops in Cairo, it seems
like the last thing we need is another one; especially in Citystars Mall.
Nevertheless, Funky Fish proves itself to be far from just another cluttered
and cramped accessory shop.
What makes Funky Fish different is that there is more to it than
ordinary accessories and gifts. It has everything from retro hats to swimwear
and even stationery. The items are all in good quality, moderately priced and emblazoned
with the Funky Fish logo.
Located on the first floor of Citystars’ Phase 2, Funky Fish’s well-organised
space makes it both easy and fun to browse through the displays. Never mind the
fluorescent lighting and loud pop music playing; and focus instead on the almost
endless range of accessories; they have necklaces varying in shapes and
materials and are usually well-stocked (averaging around 35LE). Also, rings,
bracelets and hair accessories are available in interesting designs and colours,
starting at 7LE.
The shop features practical fabric handbags as well (120LE), which are bold-coloured,
fashionable and can apparently stand rough handling. Mostly pink swimwear
items, flip-flops, bunny slippers and leg warmers can be found. Though they’re
not exactly moderately priced, it still is a great value for money.
Hanging onto its brand’s spirit, Funky Fish is the perfect place to shop
for creative, out-of-the-box gifts; whether it is a huge hot-pink feathered
mirror, or a bat-shaped pillow with ‘Love Hurts’ written on it (70LE). There
are always the ordinary ideas too, such as the photo frame (30LE), best friends
rings, or stuffed animal key chains (10LE). It’s good to know that if you ever
need to pick up some funky gifts for a young person, there’s a place for it in
Cairo.
Fortunately, the shop has managed to bring the term accessories back to
its original and wider meaning by offering practical and pleasing products. Funky
Fish is a valuable addition to the accessories and gifts market in Cairo with
its wide variety of funky, brightly coloured and young items.
